Frozen Movie Night

"The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway!"

During these cold winter months in Utah there is no other movie night more fitting than Frozen. My family has watched this movie more times than we can count, but we love it just as much every time that we turn it on. To change things up we also like to watch the Sing-Along version and get the whole family singing along to every song!

This movie night has an easy snow flake craft and some hot cocoa and s'mores. Now, you might be thinking, "Hot cocoa AND s'mores??" But hear me out, we started doing hot cocoa and s'mores awhile back after I got out the graham crackers to dip in my cocoa. My son saw the graham crackers and asked for a s'more. Well, we already had out the marshmallows too, so all I had to do was pop the graham cracker and marshmallow in the microwave for a few seconds and he was one happy kid. Now we are always making s'mores with our cocoa. The extra chocolate is good to add in your cocoa, the marshmallows make both work, and have you ever dipped graham crackers in cocoa? SO GOOD! So whip up some hot cocoa, throw some graham crackers and marshmallows in the microwave for a second, and settle in for a sugar coma while you watch Frozen!

The snowflake craft only needs 4 items. Coffee filters of any size, markers, a spray bottle, and scissors. My kids loved each step of this process, but I have a few pointers. The more white space that we colored in on the coffee filter the more vibrant that the finished product was. The filters are thin enough that it was easy to cut out our snowflakes with kid scissors, which made the kids and mom happy. Below you will find the steps to make this fun craft!

STEP 1: Flatten out a coffee filter and
color it however you want.

STEP 2: Spray the filters with water until they
are saturated. Then let them dry completely.

Step 3: Once they are completely dry it's time to
start folding. Start by folding it in half.

And in half again.

Step 4: Now you need to fold it in thirds. So
fold one side over to make two pie slices.

And fold in half along the middle to
create fold in thirds.

Step 5: The fun part! Cut out fun shapes
to make your snowflakes! Be mindful of the
folded edge. You can cut notches out of the
folded edge, but you want to make sure to
keep the folded edge in one piece.

Step 6: Carefully open it up to reveal your
beautiful snowflake!

Here are some fun examples of how we cut them and how they turned out!
