Let's get this ghoulish party started with some Beetlejuice-themed treats that are as fun to make as they are to eat!
BEETLEJUICE Dirt Cups
These Beetlejuice Dirt Cups are a spooky twist on a classic treat, perfect for setting the eerie mood.
Ingredients:
- White chocolate pudding mix
- Dark chocolate pudding mix
- Green Jell-O mix
- Oreo cookies (crushed)
- Gummi worms
Instructions:
1. Prepare the white and dark chocolate pudding mixes according to the package instructions and let them set up before layering them.
2. In clear cups, start by layering the dark chocolate pudding, followed by the white chocolate pudding. Continue layering until the cups are nearly full, creating a striped effect. Put in fridge until the Jell-O is ready
3. Make the green Jell-O according to the package instructions, but don't let the Jell-O set up. Let it cool but not harden. Once Jell-O is cooled carefully spoon it onto the pudding cups. Place in fridge to set up.
4. Once the Jell-O has fully set, top with crushed Oreo cookies to resemble dirt and garnish with gummi worms for a final spooky touck. Your Beetlejuice Dirt Cups are ready to serve!
Moldy Green Muddy Buddies
These Moldy Green Muddy Buddies are a frightfully fun snack that’s both crunchy and sweet.
Ingredients:
- 8 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 1 cup green chocolate melts
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions:
1. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the green chocolate, peanut butter, and butter together until smooth.
2. Pour the Rice Chex cereal into the melted chocolate mixture and stir until evenly coated.
3. Transfer the coated cereal into a large ziplock bag or a container with a tight-fitting lid. Add the powdered sugar.
4. Shake the bag or container until the cereal pieces are fully coated and resemble “moldy” chunks.
5. Pour the Moldy Green Muddy Buddies into a serving bowl and enjoy!
Severed Fingers
Nothing screams Beetlejuice quite like these creepy Severed Fingers made from pistachio shortbread. They’re as eerie as they are delicious! This is a recipe that I have tweeked after making them a few times. If you overcook them they can be dry, so watch them close and pull them out once the bottoms become golden brown. It is also vital to not rush the time in the fridge and the freezer or they won't hold their finger shape.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 5-8 drops green food coloring
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup pistachio flour (or finely chopped pistachios)
- Almond slices (for fingernails)
- Strawberry jam
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat until fully incorporated. Add the vanilla extract, almond extract, and green food coloring and beat until combined.
2. In a small bowl, whisk flour and salt. Add to butter mixture and mix on low until just combined. Fold in pistachios. Wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. (You can leave them in the fridge for a day or two if you want to make them later.)
3. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Remove one-quarter of dough from the fridge and portion it into tablespoon size balls. Roll each ball out to form a finger shape. Press on almond slice on one end, where the finger nail should be on a finger. Pinch dough below the nail and halfway down the finger to create a knuckle shape. Use a knife to carve lines into the knuckle. Repeat with remaining dough. Once all your fingers are made place them in the freezer for 30 minutes.
4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place cookies in preheated oven and bake for 9-12 minutes until golden and firm on the bottom.
5. Once the cookies have cooled to the touch gently lift off each almond fingernail. Add a small dab of jam to the almond and press it back onto the cookie. Dip the other end into the jam to make it appear bloody.
6. Arrange cookies on a spooky platter and serve! We like to dip ours in extra jam, so I serve them with a small bowl of jam for dipping.
