Get ready to take a culinary journey through the mind with our Inside Out movie night! We’ve curated a menu that perfectly embodies the five emotions featured in Pixar’s beloved film. As we watch Riley navigate her inner world, we indulge in dishes that bring Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear to life on our plates. Full recipes included to make movie night a breeze! Create core memories with your family by making your next movie night extra special.

Blue Tears of Sadness
To represent Sadness, we have a refreshingly cool Blue Juice. This drink, resembling the tears of Sadness, will probably bring smiles rather than tears. I used Kool-Aid Gushers for my blue drink, because my kids love them and they are a special treat to us. But any blue drink will do! Now sit back, sip some Tears of Sadness, and let it be a reminder that it’s okay to feel blue sometimes.
Red Hot Chicken Wings
Brace yourselves for a fiery experience with our Red Hot Chicken Wings, embodying Anger’s intense and passionate personality. These wings are packed with heat, just like Anger’s outbursts, but they’re equally delicious. I like to make my own BBQ sauce and I created this recipe to give it a more vibrant red color. You could also use your favorite pre-made sauce if you prefer. My kids don't like spicy things very much yet, so you can omit the siracha or adjust accordingly to your needs. My Red Hot BBQ sauce recipe is as follows:
- 1 cup Ketchup
- 1 tsp. Yellow Mustard
- 1/4 cup Molasses
- 1 tbsp. Brown Sugar
- Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Salt, Pepper to taste
- A few drops of Red food coloring (optional)
- *1-2 tbsp. Siracha
Disgusting Green Vegetables
Disgust’s refined taste is perfectly captured with our assortment of green vegetables. For our green veggies we included broccoli, celery, and sweet pea pods, but you could use any combination of green veggies that you want. While Disgust might turn her nose up at anything green, these veggies are both healthy and delicious, providing a refreshing break from the rest of the emotions.
Quivering Purple Jell-O
Purple jiggling Jell-O, topped with colorful candy, is a playful nod to Fear’s jittery and anxious nature. We just made Jell-O according to the directions on the box and portioned it into individual cups. Just before serving we added some Nerds candy on top for some extra pizzaz. Add the candy just before serving because the Jell-O will melt the candy over time. Now watch the Jell-O quiver on your spoon while you watch Fear panic on the big screen.
Memory Orb Krispy Treats
To top off our Inside Out-themed menu, we whipped up some Memory Orb Krispy Treats. These treats, made with Trix minis, look just like the memory orbs in the movie. My family really enjoyed these treats! The Trix minis work perfectly as a rice crispy replacement. Now we want to try some of the other minis cereals too! Click Here for the recipe. These Memory Orb Krispy's are sure to make movie night a Core Memory.
