Wreck-It Ralph Movie Night
Wreck-It Ralph is a sweet movie about an unexpected friendship that forms when different video game platforms collide. A huge turning point in the movie is when Ralph and Vanellope make a car together. The car turns out less than perfect, but to Vanellope that doesn't matter. Vanellope really looks up to Ralph and even makes him a homemade medal to show him how much she cares for him. Ralph is so worried about getting the real medal that he almost ruins everything in his search for it.
For this movie night I knew that we had to make some of our own candy cars! For the cars I gathered a few different pastries, candies, and icing and let our creativity take over from there. The body of the cars are Twinkies, Swiss Rolls, and lemon cakes. I got mini Oreos and mini Nilla Wafers that they used for the wheels. And for the rest you can just find anything that looks fun to add, I mostly just raided my pantry to see what I could find. I provided pretzels to use for supports or sticking things on, but they didn't work very well and we just ended up using icing to stick everything together. But I must say, our cars turned out pretty great!
I also created a printable medal that the kids colored while we watched the movie. Once they finished coloring their medals I attached some ribbon to the bigger heart with some staples and then glued the smaller heart on top to hide the staples. They turned out cute and the kids liked wearing them around! Click here for the heart medal printable.
Dinner for this movie was kept simple, as per usual!! We had Rootbeer and Burgers from Tapper's. Once again I made the drinks a little more special by putting some beer mugs in the freezer ahead of time so that they were frosty. But just having the mugs alone made the drinks special, so it's ok if you forget to freeze them ahead of time. And the burgers were just our usual burger night burgers. Lining up your standard dinners to match up with a movie is all it takes to make a fun movie night. You don't have to go all out to add a little fun to your routine! Give it a try and let me know how it goes!
